Particular importance was attached to cooperation in organizing and hosting international sporting events, as well as the implementation of long-term joint educational and sports projects.
Since 2016, a people-to-people diplomacy project between Don Cossaks and Scots has been actively developed with the support of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Edinburgh and the governments of Rostov-on-Don and Azov. The project was implemented within the framework of the «Historical Memory» program and united the Association of Scots and Don Cossacks (Glasgow) and the ethnographic complex «Kumzha».
Over the years of cooperation, Don Cossacks repeatedly became champions and prize-winners of the International Highland Games in Glasgow, while Scottish athletes successfully participated in the Cossack games «Shermitsii». In addition, Rostov-on-Don, Glasgow and Paisley established strong ties in the field of education, including student exchange programs between Don State Technical University and educational institutions in the United Kingdom.
