Mobile (United States of America)
• Country: United States of America
• Population: ~200,000
Mobile is one of the oldest cities in the American South, located on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. It is an important port and industrial center of the state of Alabama, with developed shipbuilding, petrochemical industry and logistics.
The city’s cultural identity has been shaped by French, Spanish, British and American heritage. A special place is occupied by its festival tradition: Mardi Gras originated here earlier than in New Orleans and remains a significant cultural phenomenon. Mobile combines historic districts, modern industrial zones and a picturesque coastline, forming a diverse urban environment.
After the signing of the sister-city agreement in 1991 between Rostov-on-Don and Mobile, communication between the cities was largely inactive. However, education remained the only consistently successful area of cooperation: students of Rostov State University actively exchanged experience and ideas with the University of Mobile over many years. Potential areas for future interaction include cultural, educational and humanitarian initiatives, as well as possible economic projects of mutual interest.Принять
